Green Key Explained
Green Key is the leading international certification for sustainable businesses in the hospitality industry. Its aim is to promote sustainability within the tourism and recreation sector and to reduce environmental impact. Every two years, independent auditors visit the location and conduct an inspection.
If you meet all mandatory criteria, you will receive or retain the Green Key certification. These criteria include basic environmental standards, such as monitoring and reducing gas, water, and electricity consumption, as well as minimizing the amount of (residual) waste. Businesses are also assessed on management, communication, social responsibility, construction and landscaping, mobility, textiles, and sustainable procurement.
